Today, we celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, and father figures who play such an important role in shaping lives.
Fathers often guide quietly through their actions, support through challenges, and encourage growth with strength and care. Their influence goes far beyond words. Through patience, resilience, and dedication, they help build confidence, values, and character in those around them.
At Shering Skills Studio, we believe learning and growth begin with strong support systems at home and in the community. Many fathers play a meaningful role in nurturing curiosity, encouraging resilience, and preparing the next generation for the future.
Whether you are teaching life lessons, offering words of encouragement, supporting your children through school, or simply being present during important moments, every effort matters.
Today, we honour and appreciate all that you do.
Happy Father’s Day to all fathers!!
Thank you for your love, sacrifices, guidance, and unwavering support.
Wishing all fathers good health, happiness, and many meaningful moments with your loved ones.
With appreciation,
Shering Skills Studio 🍀

The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival (端午节), is a traditional festival celebrated by Chinese communities around the world. It falls on the 5th day of the 5th month of the lunar calendar and carries deep cultural meaning.
This special occasion brings together history, traditions, and family bonding.
The History Behind Dragon Boat Festival
The most well-known story behind the Dragon Boat Festival is linked to Qu Yuan (屈原), a respected poet and minister during ancient China’s Warring States period.
Qu Yuan was known for his loyalty, wisdom, and deep love for his country. When his state fell into decline due to corruption and poor leadership, he became heartbroken.
In despair, Qu Yuan threw himself into the **Miluo River**.
The people admired and respected him greatly. They rushed out in boats to search for him, beating drums and paddling quickly to scare away fish and evil spirits.
To protect his body from being eaten by fish, villagers threw rice wrapped in bamboo leaves into the river.
These acts later evolved into the traditions we know today, including dragon boat racing and eating rice dumplings.
Traditions of Dragon Boat Festival
Dragon Boat Racing
Dragon boat racing is one of the most exciting traditions of the festival.
Teams paddle in long, beautifully decorated boats shaped like dragons, moving in rhythm to the sound of drums. The race represents teamwork, strength, unity, and determination.
Interestingly, dragon boat racing also reflects valuable life skills such as communication, coordination, trust, and teamwork.
These qualities matter greatly in both daily life and the workplace.
Eating Zongzi (Rice Dumplings)
Zongzi is the most iconic food of Dragon Boat Festival.
It is made using glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo leaves and tied with string before being steamed or boiled.
Different families and cultures enjoy different fillings.
Sweet versions may include red bean paste, dates, lotus paste, or chestnuts.
Savoury versions often contain pork belly, salted egg yolk, mushrooms, or chestnuts.
Each dumpling carries love, tradition, and precious memories shared across generations.
Hanging Herbs and Protective Charms
Some families hang herbs such as mugwort and calamus at their doors.
These traditions symbolise protection, good health, and blessings while warding off negative energy.
Even today, these customs remind us of the importance of health and well-being.
More Than a Festival
Dragon Boat Festival is more than a celebration.
It reminds us of important values such as loyalty, courage, family bonding, cultural heritage, resilience, and teamwork.
Festivals like these allow us to pause and appreciate the stories, traditions, and values passed down through generations.
At Shering Skills Studio, learning goes beyond knowledge and skills. Understanding culture, history, and shared traditions helps us grow with greater awareness and appreciation.
As we celebrate this meaningful occasion, may it bring joy, good health, and precious moments with family and loved ones.
Happy Dragon Boat Festival! 🐉🍃
